• An ancient shroom

Cordyceps militaris mushrooms have a storied tradition in traditional Asian medicine due to their adaptogenic effects, as well as their ability to reduce fatigue, increase energy, and stimulate the immune system.

  • Unique Bioactivity

The chemical composition of Cordyceps militaris includes bioactive components such as cordycepin, beta glucans, ergothioneine, and others.

  • Non-toxic

Even in high-doses, animal models, clinical trials, and in vitro studies suggest low toxicity.

A diverse adaptogen

Research on Cordyceps militaris highlights its potential as a natural raw material for various applications. The mushroom has been traditionally used to combat fatigue, increase energy, enhance the immune system, and improve overall well-being. In recent years, Cordyceps militaris has gained attention due to its similarity in bioactive composition to Cordyceps sinensis, a closely related species with limited availability and a stupidly high cost.

The Compounds in Cordyceps

The bioactive compounds found in Cordyceps, such as cordycepin and beta glucans, have been associated with immunostimulatory, antitumor, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory effects. Compounds derived Cordyceps mushroom have been observed to increase the biomarkers associated with ATP generation, which is essential for energy and endurance. Other compounds found in the Corydceps mushroom have shown potential in modulating immune responses, increasing nitric oxide production (which notably controls mitochondrial oxygen consumption), and regulating cytokine levels. Additionally, the presence of D-mannitol, lectins, phenolic compounds, and vitamins further contributes to the biological activity of Cordyceps militaris as a therapeutic mushroom.

Conclusion

This mushroom has a lot going for it. Like all mushrooms, it's polysaccharides show potential as immunomodulators. Similar to Lion's Mane, it produces very unique compounds that affect more than our general 'well-being' - they may lead to tangible differences, like better energy and reduced fatigue.
